October 13, 2009, Where We Come From: Songs of home, delivered by a select group of NYFOS alumni, including Amy Burton, Sari Gruber, Dina Kuznetsova, Sasha Cooke, Kate Lindsey, Joseph Kaiser, Paul Appleby, William Sharp and James Martin, all members of NYFOS's newly created Artist Council. NYFOS Artistic Directors Steven Blier and Michael Barrett, piano.
November 17 & 19, 2009, Great American Songwriting Teams: Songs by Dietz & Schwartz, Bock & Harnick, Lerner & Loewe, Bolcom & Weinstein. Artists to be announced. Steven Blier, piano.
February 16 & 18, 2010, The Voluptuous Muse: The exciting Russian-American soprano Dina Kuznetsova and two rising stars of the Met Opera stage, mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey and tenor Joseph Kaiser, inspired this NYFOS program, featuring lush late-romantic works by Szymanowski, Medtner, Strauss, Korngold and others. Steven Blier and Michael Barrett, piano.
March 16, 2010, The Sweetest Path: In the week prior to this performance, NYFOS returns to Caramoor for its second weeklong residency in the Vocal Rising Stars project. The culmination of this project will be a program of turn-of-the-century French songs in concert at Caramoor on March 13th and in New York at Merkin Hall on March 16th. Artists to be announced. Steven Blier and Michael Barrett, piano.
May 4 & 6, 2010, The Newest Deal: An all-new NYFOS program of American works to include the premiere of a song cycle by 2009 Pulitzer Prize finalist Harold Meltzer, composed specifically for the young American tenor Paul Appleby. Also featured, a cabaret cycle by the award-winning and critically acclaimed American composers John Corigliano and Mark Adamo, along with songs by Kenji Bunch, Jennifer Higdon, Gabriela Franck, Derek Bermel and others. Cast to include Soprano Anne-Carolyn Bird and an additional singer to be announced. Steven Blier and Michael Barrett, piano.

Friday, August 14, 2009 - The Alice Busch Opera Theater - Cooperstown
4:00-5:30pm - Latin Lovers
Join Steven Blier on a journey to Latin America in Latin Lovers, a program of popular music, art songs, and zarzuela arias from Cuba, Argentina, and Brazil. This concert will feature Mr. Blier at the piano with sopranos Jamilyn Manning-White and Jacqueline Noparstak, mezzo-sopranos Rebecca Jo Loeb and Cecelia Hall, tenors Gennard Lombardozzi and Joshua Whitener, and baritones Kevin Wetzel and Joshua Jeremiah, all members of Glimmerglass Opera's acclaimed Young American Artists Program. This concert marks the second collaboration between NYFOS and Glimmerglass Opera and is made possible by a grant from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, Inc. Supplemental Program.
Admission to this concert is free, however, those interested in attending must call the Glimmerglass Opera Box Office at (607) 547-2255 to reserve tickets.

2009 SUMMER SEASON

This year's Music Festival features renowned musicians and ensembles; the acclaimed Bel Canto at Caramoor opera program and the third year of the exciting Latin American music initiative, Sonidos Latinos. New this year, for the first time ever, there will be a concert followed by fireworks celebrating July Fourth. For kids of all ages there will be a family performance of Peter and the Wolf with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary of residency at Caramoor. International artists Bela Fleck, Susan Graham, the Brentano String Quartet, Paquito D'Rivera and Vladimir Feltsman will also be performing. The Music Festival ends with the annual Jazz Festival with headliners Dianne Reeves and Randy Weston.
Opening Night Concert features mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and the Orchestra of St. Luke's performing Beethoven's Fifth with David Robertson conducting.
