The Lark Sings High in the Cornfield

feat. Cyndia Sieden & Steven Blier  | Listen

Thomas Linley’s “The Lark Sings High in the Cornfield” is an irresistibly charming song from Mozart’s era. Metropolitan Opera soprano Cyndia Sieden combines sweetness and virtuosity, meeting all the music’s demands—and adding a few flourishes of her own. Steven Blier turns his Steinway into a sparkling chamber orchestra in this rendition of an eighteenth-century delight.

The “invaluable” series for new song

The Many Worlds Interpretation

Sun, Nov 16, 2025 | 150 W 17th St | Tickets $25

The Many Worlds Interpretation takes playful aim at tellings and retellings of our self-narratives. Kimberly Osberg’s wistful You, Us, Me mourns an “us” that never had room for “me.” Sarah Gibson’s Breath’d back again, written for tenor Benjamin Brecher, remixes poems of Thomas Moore to unmoor stories of our own anguish in “endless space.” Michael Stephen Brown’s Love’s Lives Lost tells of an unexpected reunion between former lovers and their contrasting interpretations of their shared past. The composer joins the work’s dedicatee, soprano Susanna Phillips, to give this New York premiere. Additional songs performed by baritone Tim McDevitt with Nathaniel LaNasa at the piano.

Complimentary refreshments included. Student tickets ($10) available. more info.

Our 38th season reunites me with some beloved colleagues—a trio of powerhouse baritones, a pair of charismatic sopranos, and of course that force of nature known as Bénédicte Jourdois, who will partner with me at many of the Mainstage programs,” The season we’ve created is a series of duet concerts that place American song in consecutive dialogue with music from France, Germany, and South America. (There are, blessedly, no travel bans on song.) To expand our horizon, we’ll also offer our Caramoor program—a dazzling international collection of ocean voyages and river trips, filled with adventure and sensuality. I’m very eager to share the music with you!

featuring baritone Theo Hoffman, pianists Steven Blier and Kunal Lahiry, and special guests soprano Julia Bullock and tenor Andrew Owens.  Listen now

First introduced to NYFOS audiences in NYC eight years ago as a thrilling live concert, this program pairs Schubert songs with Beatles songs on similar themes, and, in Blier’s words, “Lo and behold, the ‘Holy of Holies’ sits comfortably next to the ‘Oldie of Oldies’.” Yesterday and Im Frühling are hymns to lost love, while Der Wanderer an den Mond and She’s Leaving Home tell contrasting stories of young people cast adrift into the world.  Learn more
